The rotted grapefruit represents impermanence. The markers and guitars represent growth and investment in passion. I started with cheap markers and a 50$ guitar, and due to my investments of time, money, and effort, I now use a collection of copics and a much nicer guitar. The lamp is simply a waste of space. Thus-far, I have only ever used it to complete this project. But it used to be my little sister's, and because of that, I refuse to part ways with it. The power of a personal association with an object will always outweigh the question of its actual practical value. The Echo has its microphone off, as it typically does around my house. My family doesn't trust big companies, and my father is convinced that Amazon is spying on us via the Echo, yet we still keep it because its an incredibly convenient piece of technology. There's a metaphor there somewhere.
